Green Valley's 2020 Tornado and Your Roof
On February 7, 2020, the National Weather Service's preliminary survey confirmed an EF1 tornado near Monrovia, with estimated peak winds of 105 mph on a 6-mile path, in a report logged two miles west of Green Valley. Tree and utility line damage was found on Lynn Burke Road, and tree damage on Jesse Smith Road. After a storm that strong, look from the ground for lifted or missing shingles.

The National Weather Service's preliminary survey found a machine shed and a barn flattened by the February 2020 tornado, in addition to the tree damage along Lynn Burke Road and Jesse Smith Road, and no one was injured. The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants says wind damage to asphalt shingles shows as creases, folds, tears, or missing pieces. Look from the ground for shingles that look creased.
